Within the HIDENETS project, cross-layer resilience optimisation has been considered in Work Package 3 task 2. This document presents the results of the work in this area, which consists of 2 parts: (1) A general view on cross-layer optimisation is established, which is used to define a general framework. Using this framework, a specific solution for model-based cross-layer optimisation of message broadcast is developed and evaluated. Simulation results are used to evaluate the model performance. (2) Additional opportunities for cross-layer optimisations are discussed for reliable and efficient broadcasting, fast reroute, and multi-channel/multi-radio schemes, which constitute the main study items of Work package 3 task 1.
